Honda Launches New U-GO Electric Scooter In China

Japanese motorbike giant Honda has launched U-GO electric scooter through its Chinese arm Wuyang-Honda.

The company announced two versions of the U-Go with different speeds and power levels. These models are affordable and purely designed for urban riding.

The standard model of Honda U-GO will come with a 1.2kW continuous rated hub motor that can produce a peak output of 1.8kW. The standard version of the vehicle has a top speed of 53 Kmph. The other model sports an 800 W continuous hub motor that can produce a peak output of 1.2kW and a lower speed of 43 Kmph. Both these models have a removable lithium-ion battery with a 1.44 kWh capacity. It offers a range of 65 km which can be further extended to 130 km with a second battery. Both the models have under-seat storage space of 26 litres. The braking system consists of a front disc and a rear drum brake setup.

The Honda U-GO offers several features including an LCD screen which provides details regarding speed, distance, charge and riding mode of the scooter. The electric scooter also has a USB charging port and an anti-theft alarm. The electric scooter features a 12-inch and a 10- inch rear alloy wheels. The main cluster of the scooter is enriched by 12-inch DRL strips along with a LED headlight on the front apron.

Price And Availability

The new Honda U-Go Electric scooter is available only for the Chinese market and the price starts from 7,499 Chinese yuan($1,150). The standard version costs 7,999 CNY($1,233). Like other electric scooters which first launched in the Chinese market and then to other markets we hope it will soon launch in other western markets too.
