Czech Automaker Skoda is all set to launch the Slavia sedan by march 2022. This premium mid-size sedan will replace Rapid in India. Skoda Slavia is based on the India MQB AO IN platform which also underpins Skoda Kushaq SUV and Volkswagen Taigun. Well, the new Skoda Slavia will now go against the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

Specifications of Skoda Slavia

The Skoda Slavia adopts the same design as Octavia and Superb. The new entrant has a piano black butterfly-shaped front grille flanked by LED headlights and integrated L shaped DRL’s. The Skoda badging can be seen both at the centre of the boot lid and on the front fenders.

The Skoda Slavia incorporate several features including a 10-inch touch screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, dual spoke steering wheel, rear AC vents, pan panoramic sunroof, LED headlights. Moreover, the sedan offers three rides modes; Active. Ambition, and Style. The Slavia sedan runs on 16-inch alloy wheels.

Under the hood, Skoda Slavia is powered either by a 1.0-litre TSI petrol or a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine can produce a maximum output of 113bhp and 175Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox. While the other 1.5-litre engine can churn out 150bhp of power and 250Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed and a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox.

In terms of dimension, the Skoda Slavia sedan measures 4541 mm long, 1752 mm wide, 1487 mm tall and a wheelbase of 2651mm. In a nutshell, the new Slavia is 128 mm longer,53 mm wider,21 mm taller and has a wheelbase of 99 mm than Rapid. 

As far as safety is concerned, the Skoda Slavia is equipped with six airbags, ISOFIX, ABS with EBD, TPMS, Hill hold control, rear parking camera, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming rear view mirror, and automatic climate control, etc

Price and Availability

In terms of price and availability, Skoda Slavia is expected to price between Rs.10lakh and Rs.17 lakh(ex-showroom). Bookings had already started for a token amount of Rs.11,000 before its launch in March 2022.
