MG Astor To Be Unveil in India on September 15
MG Motors in India is set to unveil its new midsize SUV, MG Astor on September 15, 2021. The upcoming SUV will be essentially the petrol derivative of the MG ZS EV which is currently on sale in India. The compact SUV will be the first vehicle in the segment to come up with features like AI assistance and Level- 2-ADAS
Specifications Of MG Astor SUV
The MG Astor will comprise several features including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Jio e-sim for connectivity, a panoramic sunroof, LED lighting, electrically adjustable driver seats, 360-degree camera, automatic AC unit, cruise control, and more. It will also feature an artificial intelligence-based personal assistant which will help in follow voice commands and answering queries from online sources. The new AI assistant will feature the voice of Paralympic and Khel Ratna winner Deepa Malik
MG Astor will be the first SUV in its segment to offer level 2-A-DAS(adaptive driver assistance system). As far as safety is considered, MG Astor will be equipped with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, speed assist, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring, etc.
Under the hood, MG Astor is expected to be powered by 1.3-liter turbocharged petrol and 1.5 liters naturally aspirated petrol engine. The 1.3-liter engine is expected to produce a maximum output of 163bhp and 230Nm of peak torque. The 1.5-liter engine on the other hand produces a maximum output of 120bhp and 150Nm of peak torque. Both engines are mated either with an automatic or manual gearbox option.
Expected Price of MG Astor
In terms of price, the MG Astor is expected to price between 10-16 lakh (ex-showroom). It will go against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun.
