Tesla will finally enter the Indian car market by the end of this year with the Tesla Model 3. As per the source, model 3 was spotted in a blood-red colour body in Bangalore where the company has registered its Indian units. Tesla currently retails four electric cars under its portfolio namely model 3, model A, Model Y, and Model X. Model 3 serves as an entry-level sedan that has already started testing in India and some spy images of the testing made the enthusiasm in people grow higher.
Tesla Model 3 has single motor and dual electric motors variants. The standard model offers a range of 423 km when fully charged. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/hr in 6 seconds. Tesla top-end variant, Model 3 Long Range AWD can offer a range of 518 km on a single charge and can sprint from 0 to 100 km/hr in just 4.5 seconds. The performance variant of the Model 3 offers a range of 508 km and can sprint from 0 to 100 km/hr in 3 seconds.
Tesla Model 3 has several features including a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 14 speaker audio system, two wireless charging pads, a driver assistance system like an auto park, auto lane change, OTA updates, a tinted sunroof and 12-way power-adjustable heated front seats. It is not sure about the inclusion of Autopilot self-driving functionality in the country due to India’s autopilot rules and regulations.
Tesla is expected to launch its Model 3 in India by the end of this year. Since the entry-level sedan will be sold here in India through a completely CBU route, it is expected to be priced between Rs.70-80 lakhs compared to its price in the US. The model is sold in the US at a starting price of around Rs.30 lakh.
