Renault Duster has been in the Indian market for almost a decade now and that journey came to an end, Duster was first launched in July 2012 at the start of the compact SUV trend in India. Renault Duster is first-generation available in fewer countries including India, although globally the second generation on sale from 2017.

Renault “Duster” was the main reason behind the name “Renault” for Indians, but the compact SUV market is growing day by day, but duster failed to keep up with the competition, competitors in the same segment offer better design, features, and premium quality which made Duster look outdated.

Because of these reasons, Renault Duster’s sales decreased drastically, for further context in the last six months only 1500 Renault Duster sold in India, in January 2022 the sail was zero. In comparison, in January 2022 Hyundai sold 9869 units of Creta, and Kia sold 11483 Seltos so the compact SUV segment is ruled by these two companies.

Managing Director of Renault India, Venkataram Mamillapalle, has said that the carmaker will “try to bring the new Duster to India at the most earlier.” He counted that discontinuing the current model “is to pave the way for the new vehicle.”

For now, the company priority is on delivering the Kiger on time to customers. And the same year brand will also introduce the 1. O liter turbo petrol variant of the Triber MPV.
