Mercedes-Benz the very popular automobile brand across the globe and the brand also has tons of fans in the country as well, the company has now introduced its new series in the market of India and that is the next-generation GLA series. The latest series includes both the standard GLA, as well as the performance-oriented AMG GLA 35 models and the same features three variants.
Both the regular and the AMG version of the latest Mercedes-Benz GLA series introduced to India via the CKD (Completely Knocked-Down) route and the same makes the AMG GLA 35 4Matic the third locally assembled variants of the popular automobile company.
The regular GLA features three variants and that are GLA 200, GLA 220d, and GLA 220d 4Matic. The former two variants are launched in Progressive Line trim and the 220d 4matic in AMG-Line trim.
Speaking about the look of the latest offerings, the latest Mercedes-Benz GLA features a bit more butch, we can also see the sculpted lines on the bonnet and sides and the same reminds us the models in the A-Class range. The top-end trim of the latest offering of the company is also coming with the signature diamond-stud pattern grille along with a chrome slat at the centre and it also features sweptback LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs.
Regarding the rear section, we can also see the all-new LED taillamps, along with the sculpted boot lid, spoiler and a beefy bumper. On the other hand, the latest AMG GLA 35 comes with the Panamericana grille with vertical chrome slats, and it also features a more aggressive bumper as well as wider air intakes. Mercedes is also allowing users to choose the GLA with either 18-inch or 19-inch alloy wheels, while the latest AMG GLA 35 features 19-inch alloy wheels as standard. It is worth mentioning that the latter model also coming with Multibeam LED Headlamps.
Now coming to the inside, the latest offering of the company features a new cabin and that offers a large single unit display with split function for infotainment as well as instrumentation. The former option will provide the touchscreen function and the MBUX infotainment system with a voice command capability.
You will also get features like wireless charging, a multi-functional steering wheel, along with the panoramic sunroof, and Mercedes’ Pre-Safe safety package. Having said that, the latest AMG GLA 35 comes with an AMG-specific interior and the same also offers a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel, black interior, ergonomically contoured sport seats in DINAMICA microfibre with red stitching. Mercedes also offers Burmester surround sound system in the latest SUV series, along with AMG Suspension, and Keyless Go Comport Package.
Under the hood, The latest GLA is coming with petrol and diesel engine options, and the petrol variant features 1.3-litre petrol and the same will provide 161 bhp along with 250 Nm of peak torque, the oil burner of the model is a 2.0-litre engine which features 188 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque, and the petrol unit is mated to a 7-speed DCT unit, on the other hand, the diesel engine powered by an 8-speed G-tronic automatic torque converter unit. The AMG GLA 35 offers a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine tuned to provide 302 bhp, and 400 Nm of peak torque, and the same is paired with 8-speed DCT automatic unit. It also features Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel drive system.
In terms of pricing and availability, the latest models are priced between ₹ 42.10 lakh and ₹ 57.30 lakh (ex-showroom), and the company has confirmed that these prices are introductory and the same will be increased from July 1 this year.
