The electric vehicles market in India is having an amazing boom and we are going to witness a new competition in the segment as today we bought a new piece of information that suggests Maruti Suzuki and Toyota working together for an upcoming electric SUV and the same will provide up to 500 km. It is also believed that the upcoming vehicle will be available in International and Domestic markets. Details of the upcoming electric SUV of Maruti Suzuki and Toyota

According to a report, the Maruti Suzuki variant of the upcoming electric SUV is codenamed YY8 and the source claims that the variant will feature a futuristic design and the same will also look entirely different from the existing ICE-powered cars.

It is worth mentioning that Suzuki and Toyota had signed up an MoU (memorandum of understanding) in 2017 and this is for co-developing electric vehicles for the Indian market. The agreement actually says that Suzuki will produce electric vehicles for the Indian market there and they will supply to Toyota and Toyota will provide Technical Support for the same. So the upcoming project is actually based on this agreement.

Coming back to the upcoming electric SUV, it is expected that the upcoming vehicle will feature both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive variants. The two-wheel-drive variant is expected to be powered with a 138hp motor and a 48kWh battery and the same will provide up to a 400 km of range. On the other hand, the four-wheel drive variant may be arriving with two-electric motors providing 170hp along with 58 kWh battery, and up to 500 km range.
