Government Extends Validity Of Motor Vehicle Documents Till 31 December

Today we are getting a new piece of information which will provide a big relief to the vehicle owners, as the Government of the country has extended the validity of motor vehicle documents for the third time and this will help the owners to renew their documents before the deadline especially those who are living under the strict lockdown areas due to the current scenario.

Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has extended the validity of motor vehicle documents such as driving license, insurance, registration, fitness, and various permits. Well, that means all the documents which are expired since February 1, 2020 or were to expire before 31 December, 2020, will be valid till the end of this year. It is worth to mention that the department has extended the validity of the documents for the third time in this year, and that is due to the outbreak of coronavirus and the lockdown which imposed across the country to curb the disease.

In a circular, MoRTH said, “Taking into consideration the situation due to conditions for prevention of spread of COVID-19 across the country, it has been further advised that the validity of all of the above-referred documents whose extension of validity could not or not likely be granted due to lock-down and which had expired since 1 February 2020 or would expire by 31 Dec 2020, the same may be treated to be valid till 31 December 2020. Enforcement authorities have been advised to treat such documents valid till 31 December 2020.”

The new decision will definitely help the owners of the vehicle as well as staff of the offices, as many parts of the country are running institutions with minimal staff and people of the country are also going through the lockdown due to the outbreak of coronavirus. Having said that, this will also a relief for the taxi drivers and bus drivers during the current scenario because now they can able to renew their permit by the end of this, as now they are not able to work.
